NEET UG stands for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate. It is a competitive entrance examination conducted in India for students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical (MBBS/BDS) and dental courses in government or private medical colleges in the country. NEET UG is regulated by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and is the sole entrance examination for admission to undergraduate medical programs in India.

Eligibility criteria for NEET UG


The eligibility criteria for NEET UG are as follows:

1. Age Limit: The candidate must be at least 17 years old as of December 31 of the year of admission. There is no upper age limit for appearing in NEET UG.

2. Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian citizen, Non-Resid


ent Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), or foreign nationals are also eligible to apply for NEET UG.

3. Educational Qualifications: The candidate must have completed or is appearing for the 10+2 examination or equivalent from a recognized board or university. The qualifying examination must include Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as compulsory subjects.

4. Minimum Marks Requirement: The candidate must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in the qualifyin

g examination for general category candidates, 45% marks for general-PH category candidates, and 40% marks for reserved cat

egory (SC/ST/OBC) candidates.

5. Number of Attempts: There is no restriction on the number of attempts for appearing in NEET UG. However, the eligibility criteria regarding age and educational qualifications must be fulfilled for each attempt.
